Frankenstein by mary shelley...help!!?

I like the first answer. The monster is ostracized by all humanity except for that one deaf, old guy. After that, well I guess the guy was scared senseless. The monster then asked Frankenstein to make him a mate and he refuses three-quarters of the way through. Frankenstein is disgusted with what he has created and that the monster took away everyone he has ever loved and decided to avoid mortal contact at all cost to save the lives of others.
