How can you tell if something was removed or added to an audio track?

I have a sting tape recording of a friend of mine and he says he made a statement on the tape that is not there. He swears he made the statement and feels the police removed it. I am using AVS audio editor. Is there any way to find an edit after it was done then re-copied? The recording is in WMA format.
