Is showing "respect" for outrageous systems of belief really equal to "political correctness"/

Many people say that their religious beliefs and values are a private thing, and I can accept and respect that. But if they bring those beliefs and values to a public forum like this one, they should be prepared to defend those beliefs with things that other people can understand, such as consistent logic and verifiable evidence. Political correctness must cast aside if discussions and debates are going to mean anything and affect any kind of change. Wouldn't yahoo answers be incredibly boring if all we did was pat people on the back?
