Can a long distance relationship work?

I met someone that live in another state. We have been talking for awhile about 2 months and it's so good. I have never been in a long distance relationship before. so, I don't know if I should pursue it or let it go. But he is amazing and so thoughtful and attentive. Am I wasting my time?
